We are a local community of the Church of the Nazarene, a global denomination in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition - with over 30,000 churches and 2.6 million members all over the world. Want to know more? Learn about our Articles of Faith. We do not believe that we are the only expression of the Church, but recognize that we are just a part of the greater body of Christ that spans countless denominations and local churches all over the world. We seek to contribute to the global body of Christ however we can!
What are some things that make us different from other churches or denominations you may know?
We ordain women and fully recognize their role as pastors, elders, and deacons, equally capable to men in all ministry roles throughout all levels of the Church. The Church of the Nazarene has ordained women since our founding in 1908. Throughout all of scripture, God has called women into leadership in ministry. This is clear from the time of the Israelite Judges to the New Testament Church! The Church of the Nazarene recognizes God's equal call upon both men and women to lead Jesus Christ's Church.
In addition to God's miraculous working and revelation, we also recognize that God works through many different scientific fields. While it can be be tempting to think that religion and science have to oppose one another, we don't believe this is the case at all. When we're challenged to deepen our understanding of both, it can become quite clear how they complement one another. God works through many different fields, bringing physical, mental, and emotional healing through established medical practices, therapy, and counseling. This is rooted in our Wesleyan heritage and understanding the "Wesleyan Quadrilateral" of Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience.
Articles of Faith:
1) We believe in the holy and sovereign triune God.

4) We believe in the divine inspiration of Holy Scripture.
